Harrahs Entertainment Files for Second Singapore Casino License

Harrah's Entertainment is one of the four groups that submitted disclosure forms for a second Singapore casino license bid.

So far probity submissions from a total of four groups said the Singapore Tourism Board handling the bidding process. The second casino will be located on the island of Sentosa.

They have already submitted documents for probity checks of the bidding process for licensing casino.

The others who filed disclosure forms were identified by the tourism board are as follows: Eight Wonder Asia, Malaysia's Genting Inetrnation and Star Cruises, and Bahamas-based Kerzner International which teamed with Capital Land.

Sun International had expressed interest in the Sentosa project, but did not disclose the deadline.

Margaret Teo, the tourism board's director for integrated resorts said "Proposers are required to submit the forms by today to allow the probity checks to be completed by the close of the RFP in October 2006."

Eighth Wonder, a Las Vegas-based company, said it will build the world's "most talked about resort" if the project wins a casino license.

Sentosa is already a home to beaches, luxury residential developments and an entertainment complex, on the small island just south of Singapore.

Last year, Singapore ended the ban on casino gambling in a bid to attract more tourists. After releasing the ban, it then announced plans for two casino "resorts" - facilities that would include hotels and other amrnities as well as gaming areas.
